Combined Specialization

Montefiore Einstein’s Combined Specialization offers comprehensive clinical and research training that covers psychopathology in children and adults. During their fellowship, interns provide high-quality, evidence-based, compassionate care to often under-resourced communities. Interns also have the opportunity to participate in specialty programming, including the mentalizing-focused Connecting and Reflecting Experience (CARE) parenting program, the Adult Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program and the Becoming an Emerging Adult at Montefiore (BEAM) Program.

Why our program could be right for you

The Combined Specialization is well-suited for trainees interested in understanding and treating psychopathology in children and adults, while providing evidence-based care to under-resourced communities. Working alongside a supportive and diverse multidisciplinary team, our interns learn to integrate theoretical orientations to effectively treat a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses.

Dr. McCoy and Dr. Zayde provided outstanding professional guidance and mentorship. I continue to use principles learned through Dr. Zayde’s Mentalizing-Focused Parenting Program in my daily work.

The Combined Specialization is well-suited for interns interested in working in the child and adult outpatient settings to deliver treatments, individually and in groups, using a variety of therapeutic approaches. As part of their work with child and adolescent cases, interns liaise with relevant organizations, such as schools or foster care agencies. Interns participate in the Connecting and Reflecting Experience (CARE) mentalizing-focused parenting program, the Adult DBT Program and the Becoming an Emerging Adult at Montefiore (BEAM) Program. Interns conduct at least two neuropsychological assessments and spend one day per week for four months engaged in research and/or scholarly work.
