The Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Cellular Therapy at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) is committed to providing cutting-edge therapies to children and young adults in our community and throughout the region. Our nationally ranked Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Cellular Therapy Fellowship Program provides fellows with excellent clinical skills, featuring opportunities for innovative research and access to renowned mentorship.

While training, fellows gain exposure to a wide range of pathologies and work alongside nationally renowned experts in the fields of cancer and blood disorders. The Albert Einstein College of Medicine Cancer Center is one of the top NIH and National Cancer Institute-funded research institutions in the country, and we also offer fellows access to robust research opportunities.

Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein

Located on our Moses Campus, the Children's Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) is a premier academic children’s hospital nationally renowned for its clinical excellence, innovative research and commitment to training the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists. CHAM has dedicated inpatient and outpatient facilities for pediatric hematology, oncology and cellular therapy patients. Our inpatient unit houses 32 beds with spacious patient rooms and dedicated negative pressure rooms for bone marrow transplant patients. Our new, state-of-the-art outpatient facility includes 22 individual infusion suites, 21 clinic rooms, a phlebotomy suite and a satellite outpatient pharmacy.

A challenging and innovative curriculum

Our program includes weekly board-focused didactic sessions, which provide fellows with exceptional education and prepare them to become attending physicians. During their training, fellows attend weekly patient care conferences and multidisciplinary tumor boards, as well as monthly hematopathology conferences. Fellows attend and lead inpatient rounds daily, and perform patient procedures such as lumbar punctures and bone marrow biopsies and aspirates. Fellows are also expected to facilitate day-one talks, treatment plan conversations and end-of-life discussions with our patients and their families. They also manage their own panel of patients in a weekly fellows clinic and learn to manage outpatient care throughout their training.

I love the diversity of our patient population. After training here as a resident and fellow, I truly believe that there is no place like the Bronx to train.
